Cost of Studying in the UK
The United Kingdom includes England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, and tuition fees may vary slightly between these regions. The cost of studying in the UK depends on several factors, including the chosen course, university, and location.
Compared to countries such as the United States and Australia, studying in the UK can often be a more affordable option while still offering world-class education.
On average, tuition fees for international students in the UK range from £10,000 to £26,000 per year, depending on the program and institution. In addition, the average monthly living expenses, including accommodation and food, usually range between £800 and £1,300.
One advantage of studying in the UK is that most bachelor’s degree programs are typically completed in three years, allowing students to graduate sooner and reduce overall education costs

COLLEGE STUDENT WORK PERMITS
1 – Must be 18 plus.
2 – Full-time international students at an approved university who hold a Student Visa may work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and full-time during the academic holidays.
3 – There are distinct beginnings and endings to each semester at all accredited universities, as well as annual holiday breaks. You are free to put in full hours at your employment throughout these intervals.
The only type of work for which a Dependent Visa holder is not permitted to work in the UK is in the medical field. Please note that if your spouse is highly skilled and independently obtains sponsorship from a Tier 2 licenced employer, he or she will not be allowed to “switch” to a Tier 2 General Visa while in the United Kingdom.
Requirements to Obtain a UK Student Visa
To apply for a UK Student Visa, applicants generally need the following documents:
- Valid Passport
- Proof of Financial Support showing that you can cover tuition fees and living expenses.
- Evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself for at least one month in the UK.
- Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number from your chosen university.
- Required documents for obtaining the CAS, as requested by the university.
- Recent passport-sized colour photographs.
- Tuberculosis (TB) test results, if required based on your country of residence.

Post-Study Work Options
International students who complete their studies in the United Kingdom may have opportunities to remain and work in the country.
Students who receive a job offer with a qualifying salary can switch to a Skilled Worker Visa (previously Tier 2 General Visa), allowing them to work and stay in the UK for several years.

UK Student Dependent Visa
The UK Student Dependent Visa allows family members of international students to join them while they study in the United Kingdom.
Where to Apply
Dependents must apply for the visa from their country of nationality or residence, similar to the process for a UK Student Visa. The application is completed online, and a separate application must be submitted for each dependent.
In most countries, applicants will also need to schedule an appointment at a visa application center to provide biometric information (fingerprints and photographs) and submit supporting documents.
Financial Requirements
Dependents applying for a UK visa must demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to cover their living expenses while staying in the UK.
Typically, the required amount is £680 per month, for up to 9 months. This means a total of £6,120 per dependent if the visa is granted for nine months or more.
Proof of funds can be provided through bank statements or a letter from the bank. The funds may be held in the student’s bank account or the account of their spouse or partner.
If the student is sponsored by an official financial sponsor, the sponsor may provide a letter confirming that they will cover the living expenses of the dependents, which can also satisfy the financial requirement.
Relocating Dependents to the UK
International students studying in the United Kingdom may be able to bring close family members with them on a dependent visa. This typically includes a spouse or partner and children under the age of 18 who are financially dependent on the student.
With a dependent visa, family members can live with the student in the UK during the study period.
Eligibility to Bring Dependents
Students may be eligible to bring dependents if they meet one of the following conditions:
- The course duration is at least 9 months and is Level 7 (postgraduate level) or above, fully funded by a university.
- The student is participating in a government-sponsored programme that lasts more than 6 months.
- The student is enrolled in a doctoral or long-term research programme.

After Graduation in the UK
International students who complete their studies in the United Kingdom may have opportunities to remain in the country and build their careers.
Students who graduate and still hold a valid student visa can continue staying in the UK if they receive a job offer with a minimum annual salary of £20,800.
To remain in the UK for work, graduates typically need to switch to a Skilled Worker Visa (formerly Tier 2 General Visa). This visa allows them to live and work in the UK for up to five years.
Gaining professional work experience and earning a higher annual salary (around £35,000 or more) can improve eligibility for long-term settlement or permanent residency in the United Kingdom
